Project GSE MA-1

GSE MA-1 GSE MA-1 is a 4.3MW ground-mounted solar PV project located in Sandwich, Massachusetts. The project, which achieved commercial operation in May 2014, was constructed by S&C Electric Company on land owned by Howland Development, a local real estate development company and the original project developer. The electricity produced from the project is sold to the Town of Sandwich under a net metering program with NStar, the local electric utility that serves the area. Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SRECs) are sold through a long term offtake agreement with an affiliate of Xzerta Energy. Each year, the project provides more than 5 million kilowatt-hours of electricity to the local community, enough to serve the needs of approximately 500 homes. Over the project’s life, the CO2 emissions to be saved are estimated at over 125,000 tons, while the SO2 emissions to be saved are estimated at over 550 tons..
