Project GSE MA-2

GSE MA-2GSE MA-2 is a 3.63MW ground-mounted solar PV project located in Shirley, Massachusetts. The project, which achieved commercial operation in June 2014, was constructed by S&C Electric Company on land owned by the Shirley Water District. The project was co-developed with EPG Solar, the original project developer, and Empower Energies. The electricity produced from the project is sold to the Devens Utility, the local electric utility that serves the area, which is part of MassDevelopment, the state’s finance and development authority. Each year, the project provides more than 4.6 million kilowatt-hours of electricity to the local community, enough to serve the needs of approximately 400 homes. Over the project’s life, the CO2 emissions to be saved are estimated at over 117,000 tons, while the SO2 emissions to be saved are estimated at over 517 tons.
